TIMES GONE BY

By Patsy Stewart Hilton

I sit in a house and think my oh my
whatever happened to times gone by

Our lives were so happy, cheerful, and gay
when family and friends travelled every byway

We would pull in come evening and light the campfire
it’s good to be back in old Arnprior

As memories flood back of a bothy we shared
with a presence so evil it made everyone scared

The night was just starting with craik going strong
when dad told us stories about his father John

who travelled the country since he was a lad
and the stories he told were happy and sad

So, here’s to you grandad there never will be
a piper and storyteller quite like thee.
