The ‘G’ in GRT
The ‘R’ in GRT
Inspired by conversations at our 2024 LGBT History Month webinar on Embedding Best Practice by Utilizing the SCURL EDI Toolkit that centred on the unique role library and information professionals can play in amplifying the voices of historically silenced and misrepresented communities, I was delighted to discover, thanks to Leeds Beckett University Librarian Samantha Heeson, the growing range of reading lists and resource collections that exists to celebrate GRT communities. After Samantha introduced me to Marie and her research, all at CILIPS were thrilled when Marie agreed to write a series of blog posts for us and our 1200 members this GRT History Month. Throughout the series, Marie will be sharing ideas and inspiration for how libraries of all sectors across Scotland - including public, academic, school libraries and more - can enrich GRT representation within their collections, events and wider activities: equipping our profession to preserve, celebrate and champion the stories of GRTHM past, present and future.
