Granny and Grandad by Michelle Foy

Granny and Grandad

by Michelle Foy

My granny and grandad, I’ll tell you their names,
Wee Teddy and Dora, they just loved their bairns.
We’d go for long visits, I loved to see
what my wee granny had begged for me.

Always oot cawing the doors,
bless her wee feet covered in sores.
Begging for rags and selling flowers,
walking the roads for hours and hours.

My wee grandad he was the same,
always out never at hame.
He only stopped when winter came
saying terrible weather, no-one to blame

Now that’s all gone, sad it may be
but memories they stay always with me.
I tell my bairns so they can see
the life we had when I was wee.
